Microsoft accidentally leaked a new icon for Copilot
Microsoft appears to be preparing a revamped logo for its artificial intelligence Copilot. X Network has leaked information indicating that the AI assistant will soon receive a more minimalist design.
Microsoft appears to be preparing a revamped logo for its artificial intelligence Copilot. X Network has leaked information indicating that the AI assistant will soon receive a more minimalist design.
The first evidence was found by well-known insider Leopeva64, who usually tracks changes in test builds of the Edge Canary browser. Initially, the Edge Icon Refresh flag appeared in Microsoft's internal builds, and soon the new logo briefly appeared in some of the browser's menus, Neowin reports .
Microsoft has removed the new Copilot icon in the latest Edge Canary build, so it seems it was an accidental leak. @minto494 has posted an image of this same icon in Microsoft 365. This is another indication that this could be the new Copilot icon across various Microsoft apps. https://t.co/F7T7tHmRjdpic.twitter.com/VGKqvW1VM9
Microsoft quickly removed the new icon from the latest Canary build, indicating more of an accidental leak than a planned announcement.
A similar logo was also noticed by a user under the nickname @minto494, but already within the Microsoft 365 service. The appearance of the same icon in two different products hints that Microsoft is preparing a large-scale and unified rebranding of Copilot for the entire ecosystem.
It seems like this new icon will also be used for M365 Copilot too (from my individual Premium account) pic.twitter.com/JTNUVIe6cZ
The new icon is a simplified and "flat" version of the current logo: the shape and colors remain the same. The 3D effect, volume, and gradients have been removed - they have been replaced by a flat and clean design.
This move is fully in line with the global trend towards minimalism in technology. Copilot already received a major interface update in May, so changing the logo could be a logical continuation of this process.
Microsoft has not officially confirmed the logo change yet, and it is unknown when (or if) the new design will become available to all users.
