Ukrainian technology company Vyriy has introduced a new Popcorn initiation board, which the manufacturer is now implementing in all production drones.
«This solution is designed to expand the tactical scenarios for the use of drones and maximize the safety of crews during operation,» the manufacturer’s press service reported.
The new board is easily integrated into existing platforms and has already been codified: from now on, it is installed on all the company’s products, including the Blyskavka strike UAV.
Vyriy assures that the use of this more technological element will not affect the overall price of the drone.
The Popcorn initiation board is based on the Rico board architecture, which, according to the manufacturer, has already proven itself well in combat conditions.
«The system has received a comprehensive security enhancement, which includes four stages of protection against uncontrolled activation. The main focus of the developers is full operator control. Now the system status and timer countdown are displayed directly on the screen (OSD), which makes each stage of operation more understandable and predictable,» the company adds.
It is also known that for the safety of personnel during preparation and transportation, the board is equipped with a mechanical check that physically breaks the detonator circuit.
«Unlike many analogues, when developing Popcorn, Vyriy engineers implemented the function of controlled activation via external „whiskers“. This approach, combined with an activation delay timer increased to two minutes, significantly minimizes the risk of false and accidental activations,» the manufacturer’s press service provided more technical details.
In addition to all of the above, at the request of partner teams, the manufacturer implemented the function of remote detonation by command from the remote control.
«Due to the activation delay timer, Popcorn is now compatible with long-waiting drones — the so-called „waiters“. For additional security, an automatic self-destruct mechanism has been implemented after 48 hours,» Vyriy added.
In addition, the electronics received a reinforced protected housing, which increases the system’s resistance to mechanical damage and adverse weather conditions. «All board components are additionally covered with a protective layer of sealant, which eliminates short circuits due to moisture, condensation or fog,» the manufacturer’s press service assured.
