The team received a year of free use of the Claude Team tariff and $1,000 in API credits. How do Ukrainian startups get into the program and what are the main mistakes made in applications?
This was told to dev.ua by the startup's co-founder Anna Chorna. She also shared the details of the selection process and recommendations for other Ukrainian teams on how to avoid rejection when submitting an application.
According to the founders, Anthropic has expanded the Claude Startups program, providing tool packages worth up to $7,000 for each startup, as well as partner bonuses and discounts on services worth up to $45,000. Both pre-seed projects without attracted investments and startups with venture funding founded within the last five years can participate in the program.
Mindship applied on October 8th and received automatic approval within minutes.
“In the application, we described the product in a few sentences, emphasized why what we are building is important, and what kind of support from the Anthropic team would be useful and valuable to us,” noted Anna Chorna.
The co-founder of Mindship drew attention to three common mistakes that usually cause applications to end up on the rejection list:
Using public email services (like Gmail). The applicant's email address must be exclusively on the corporate domain of the company's website, which is indicated in the form. Applications with public addresses are more likely to be rejected by the automated verification system.
A vague or general description of the project. Phrases like “we are an AI startup” do not provide an understanding of the essence of the product. The questionnaire requires clear specifics (up to 500 characters): for whom the solution is being created, what problem it solves, and what role Claude’s models play in its work. The need for support from Anthropic should also be argued in detail.
Postponement of use of received credits. After confirming participation, you must immediately activate Claude Team, credits and affiliate offers through the Claude Console. The $1,000 provided for API expires 6 months after accrual and works only through the Claude API within the console.
Most applications are automatically reviewed within minutes, but some are sent for manual review by Anthropic specialists, which takes 2–3 business days. In addition, if the startup’s venture fund is part of the Anthropic partner network, the team can receive up to $100,000 in additional API credits.
Earlier, Ukrainian IT professional Serhiy Chernenko, the author of the Besidka AI chat, said that he was able to get into Claude Startups after the program expanded .
