The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced the start of its own production of codified FPV drones. It will start in December 2024 at the state-owned enterprise.
The project is being implemented under a tripartite agreement with a private developer, who has granted a license to produce UAVs, the Ministry of Defense notes.
The drones will be directed to units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. After developing the production technology and scaling it up, the state enterprise will be able to independently participate in tenders of the Defense Procurement Agency and other potential customers.
«Thanks to the integration of the state into production chains, we have gained a clear understanding of the cost of drone production and our competitive advantages in this market. This will allow us to improve the quality of finished products through sustainable competition,» commented First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Ivan Havrylyuk.
The Ministry of Defense has already developed a roadmap for organizing similar production with other drone developers.
«We are ready to expand cooperation with private companies. We have a package of template documents and step-by-step instructions for launching similar BPAK production lines at other state-owned enterprises,» said Yuriy Taranyuk, head of the Main Department of Defense Innovations.
Recall that in the six months since the beginning of 2024, the Ministry of Defense codified and admitted to operation more than 70 samples of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) — all of them produced in Ukraine. For comparison, last year, about 60 UAVs of various purposes were codified.
