As the ministry reported, relevant state supply contracts have already been concluded with four manufacturers, and in total, 29 manufacturers are involved in their production.
«Scaling became possible thanks to the government’s decision, which opened the transfer of military technologies to Ukrainian manufacturers. Previously, such a mechanism did not exist,» the Ministry of Defense recalled.
At the same time, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov called this an example of effective public-private partnership, when combat technologies are quickly scaled up into mass production.
He noted that this is part of a broader plan to increase the effectiveness of Ukrainian air defense to achieve 100% detection of enemy drones and no less than 95% of their neutralization.
As dev.ua reported, in November last year, the Octopus — the Shahed interceptor drone — was launched into mass production in Ukraine. The interceptor drone itself is a technology jointly developed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in cooperation with the United Kingdom.
It was previously reported that production of Octopus interceptor drones was expected to reach 1,000 units in February.
