Russia partially shuts down mobile communications and the Internet. What happened?

Residents of the Moscow region and the Russian capital complained on the morning of May 5 about disruptions in the work of mobile operators MTS, Beeline, Megafon, and T2.

Beeline stated that the connection may be intermittent for reasons beyond their control and recommended using Wi-Fi.

Some residents of Moscow received a message from the Unified State System for the Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations, which states that «restrictions on Internet access may be imposed in connection with ensuring the security of the festive events taking place.»

On May 5, Moscow will be rehearsing the Victory Day parade. The Telegram channel «Caution, Moscow» writes that communication disruptions may last until May 9.
