This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. According to the department, space intelligence units receive fresh satellite images every day.
The satellite’s efficiency is ensured by radar surveillance (SAR) technology. It allows you to obtain highly detailed images regardless of cloud density, weather conditions or time of day. The resolution of individual images of the device reaches 0.25 meters per pixel, and one frame is able to cover an area of up to 225 square kilometers.
«For modern warfare, access to space technologies plays a crucial role, and it was precisely the People’s Satellite that became Ukraine’s first sharp eyes in orbit — we see where to aim, we understand what is best to hit, we have control over the consequences of the defeats. The multi-billion dollar losses of the Russian aggressor — these are the results, including the People’s Satellite,» said Andriy Yusov, a representative of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
As a reminder, the «People’s Satellite» project was implemented in August 2022. The Serhiy Prytula Charitable Foundation purchased a spacecraft from the Finnish company ICEYE for 600 million hryvnias, which Ukrainians primarily collected for Bayraktar drones (their manufacturer later transferred them for free).
Under the terms of the agreement, GUR received the satellite itself for in-orbit control, as well as access to the database of the entire ICEYE satellite constellation. It was previously reported that ICEYE helped detect more than 7,000 objects of Russian technology .
