According to Yevhen Khmara, whose interview was published on Laura Lumer’s website, among his current priorities are protecting supply routes from Russian drones, as well as timely and high-quality provision of units with weapons.
«I have a real picture in my head of what is already being used, what can be used against the enemy, and what could be most effective in the future,» he said.
As Yevheniy Khmara stated, his work will be based on the trust of military personnel.
«We play by the same rules. I trust them, and they trust me,» Loomer quotes Khmara as saying, adding that he would not send soldiers on missions he was not prepared for.
In his opinion, Ukraine should adhere to asymmetric warfare tactics. «We cannot respond blow for blow. We must be asymmetric,» the new head of the Ministry of Defense stated.
Yevheniy Khmara also expressed the opinion that Ukraine’s deep strikes on Russian infrastructure using drones are designed to inflict significant costs on the enemy, which significantly exceed Kyiv’s expenses for conducting such operations.
According to him, the goal is for the cost of Ukrainian strikes to be only 2% of the damage they cause to Russia.
In addition, as Lumer writes, Khmara also commented on personal motives in the current war.
«He has two sons, 11 and 9 years old. His personal goal, he said, was to stop the fighting before they reached draft age — so that instead of going to war, his children could help rebuild their country,» the influencer wrote.
As dev.ua wrote, on July 17, Yevheniy Khmara became the acting Minister of Defense, replacing Mykhailo Fedorov.
After the «necessary legal procedures» are followed, Zelensky promised to submit Khmara’s candidacy for approval by the Verkhovna Rada.
