The sensors are hidden directly in the earcups of the headphones, i.e. in the pads that contact the ears. They read the electrical activity of the brain, and the application uses this data to assess how well the user is concentrating, whether they are overloaded and whether they are starting to fall asleep.
If the headphones “decide” that a person is starting to get distracted, they will emit a short beep to bring them back to work. If the system sees signs of exhaustion, it will, on the contrary, suggest taking a break.
The application also has a kind of “brain battery” — Brain Battery. It is supposed to show how much cognitive resource the user supposedly has left. The service also assesses concentration, mental load, stress, drowsiness and speed of information processing. Based on this data, Neurable wants to help the user understand at what times he is best suited to complex tasks. For example, if the system sees that the brain works faster in the morning, it is at this time that the most difficult work can be postponed.
The headphones can also be used for meditation and short naps. During meditation, the voice guide will stop when the system determines that the user is sufficiently focused, and will resume if their attention begins to wander. And during naps, the headphones can gradually reduce the volume when it detects that the user is falling asleep.
They will cost $499. Sales should start in October.
