«We have not yet made such decisions, but we are ready to consider the possibility of an IPO of our local assets. And it is obvious that Kyivstar is one of those assets that can be in this process,» — said VEON CEO Kaan Terzioğlu in an interview with Reuters.
Terzioglu noted that VEON has not had any conversations with Ukrainian officials on the subject, as the process is still in its early stages.
«For Ukraine, I think a local IPO in the Ukrainian market is probably a bit more of a long-term issue than an IPO in the international market,» — the CEO said.
Earlier, he hinted at a potential listing in Warsaw or London.
Asked whether the re-election of Donald Trump could affect VEON’s operations in Ukraine, Terzioğlu said his monetary and energy policies were «very positive from the perspective of frontier markets» such as VEON.
Last year, former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who worked in the first Trump administration, joined the board of Kyivstar .
VEON recently moved its headquarters to Dubai and will complete its delisting in Amsterdam on November 25.
