Notion has introduced a new platform for developers, Keynote, where all the work is done by AI agents. How it works

The day before, Notion, known for its collaborative note-taking app, introduced a new developer platform, Keynote, that maximizes the capabilities of AI agents.
According to TechCrunch, the platform also connects to external agents and allows teams to create automated multi-step workflows and retrieve information from any databases.
«By creating an orchestration layer — a system that coordinates AI work across multiple tools and data sources — Notion is positioning itself not just as a note-taking app with AI features, but as a hub where humans and agents can collaborate across tools and databases,» TechCrunch reports.
The publication recalls that in February Notion first launched its Custom Agents, which performed repetitive tasks. According to the company, since then Notion customers have created more than 1 million agents, which, however, had limitations — they could not connect to external data or use their own logic.
External agents used by companies also had no way to connect to the Notion workspace, but now that should change.
Notion will now allow teams to deploy their own custom code, and with Notion’s new cloud-based environment for running custom code, customers will be able to write their logic and deploy it in a secure «sandbox» (an isolated environment that prevents code from interfering with other systems).
«You don’t even need to write any code. The company notes that your chosen AI agent can do it for you,» they report on this occasion.
Workers will use the same credit system as user agents, but Notion will make it free until August so developers can experiment with the new functionality during that time.
Another addition allows Notion users to communicate directly with external AI agents they use, assign them tasks, and track their progress as if they were one of Notion’s own agents. At launch, Notion notes that Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and Decagon are supported partner agents.
