The old version of the Nova Poshta app was released back in 2012 — and in 14 years it has gained over 10 million downloads on Android and iOS. It is still open to 6 million users. Another 700,000 have both apps at the same time, writes Forbes.
The new one appeared in 2022 as a quick solution for international expansion. The first foreign branch in Poland was not yet there, and the MVP was already being written. The reason is simple: in Europe, the company uses other back-end systems, and connecting the old application to them would be more difficult than writing a new one.
In Ukraine, the new version appeared in September 2024. The total amount of investment in development as of that time is $1.7 million. This is the largest project of Nova Digital, the IT division of the Nova group. Nova Digital’s revenue in 2025 increased by 49%, to UAH 1.48 billion.
In two years, the new application has gained over 5 million downloads on Android, of which 4.5 million are active users. The company does not disclose the number of downloads on iOS.
The main thing is that these 4.5 million came on their own, without active promotion. «There was no big promotion. We are growing through word of mouth and posts in our communication channels,» says Andriy Andreyev, head of the application development team. — Andriy Andreyev, Nova Digital
The company hasn’t updated the old app for two years. New features — address delivery with a map of the courier’s movement, multi-number — are only available in the new one. But 6 million people apparently haven’t noticed this yet or don’t consider it a reason to switch.
By the end of 2026, Nova Poshta plans to complete the synchronization of both versions, transfer the data, and close the old one. More active promotion of the new application will begin when the decision to close it is final. According to Andreev, the new app works faster, saves time, and has functions that are simply impossible to implement in the old version.
