China's Tencent has introduced a new AI model that surpasses the developments of Z.AI and Moonshot

Chinese tech giant Tencent Holdings Ltd. has released a new entry-level AI model, the Hy4 Preview. According to the company, internal tests show that it outperforms the products of its main competitors in the Chinese market, Z.AI Co. and Moonshot AI.

The model operates on 770 billion parameters and has a context window of 1 million tokens, which significantly exceeds the performance of its predecessor and allows it to process huge amounts of information in a single query, Bloomberg reports .

In blind engineering testing, Tencent found Hy4 Preview to have a slight advantage over Z.ai's GLM-5.3 and Moonshot's Kimi K3. In independent benchmarks, the system's performance varied across tasks compared to Alibaba's Qwen 3.8 Max.

The model demonstrated capabilities in video game creation, 3D website design, and accounting.

Tencent has opened up the model’s scales for integration through its cloud platform, and has also added it to its own chatbot and office assistant WorkBuddy, which is currently the most popular desktop AI agent in China.

To catch up with global AI leaders, the company has significantly increased spending on technology infrastructure. In the second quarter, Tencent increased capital spending on AI projects and computing power by 176%, to $7.9 billion.
