Nvidia announced over two years ago that it planned to replace the Control Panel for Windows with a new Nvidia app. After porting most of the features to the Nvidia app, today the company officially announced that it is retiring the old Control Panel.
“With the release of the latest Nvidia App update, all relevant Nvidia Control Panel features for GeForce users have been modernized and ported to the new client,” the company said. “After 20 years of dedicated service, the classic Nvidia Control Panel is officially retiring in the Game Ready and Studio driver packages. However, for Nvidia RTX PRO users, the Control Panel will continue to be supported until we move all pro features to the Nvidia App.”
The old Nvidia Control Panel will remain on users' computers unless they perform a clean install of the drivers. However, even if you need the program, it will still be available for download from the Microsoft Store. However, no new features or bug fixes will be released for it, The Verge explains .
Last year, Nvidia moved most of the important features of the Control Panel to the new Nvidia App. It's now a universal, all-in-one application that lets you download and install drivers, manage game settings, and toggle different DLSS modes.
Additionally, Nvidia today released a new Game Ready driver optimized specifically for the release of 007 First Light. The new driver, version 610.47, also adds support for Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
