US senators have proposed to Ukraine to expand the Starlink range deep into Russia in exchange for a 100-day pause in strikes on refineries
Ukraine has been offered a 100-day suspension of strikes on Russian energy facilities in exchange for the ability to use Starlink about 300 km deep into Russian territory. This would allow the Ukrainian military to attack missile launchers and drones from which Russia is shelling Ukrainian cities. Volodymyr Zelensky, according to American journalists, has expressed his willingness to agree to such conditions.

This was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources familiar with the negotiations.
Republican Senators Roger Wicker and Kevin Cramer, along with two members of the US House of Representatives, arrived in Kyiv with this initiative on October 9. During the day, they met with representatives of the Ukrainian defense sector, and at the end of the visit, they discussed their idea with Zelensky.
However, for now, this is just a proposal from US lawmakers, not a signed agreement. It is currently unknown whether the Donald Trump administration will support it and whether SpaceX will agree to change the terms of satellite communications.
On the night of October 14, the Ukrainian military encountered speed restrictions on Starshield terminals, which caused problems with the performance of some combat missions. The system was later restored, although the military continued to report occasional outages.
Previously, dev.ua wrote that the decision to limit the work of Starshield for the Ukrainian military came from the White House.
“It’s very painful and unpleasant.” Zelensky said that Starshield restrictions prevented the shooting down of Russian “shaheeds,” but there is no talk of replacing the technology yet.
