The TVO of the Minister of Digital Transformation Oleksandr Bornyakov is suing People's Deputy Danylo Hetmantsev - in court, the government official will defend his honor, dignity, and business reputation through defamation.
This was announced by lawyer Masi Nayem, whose law firm Miller will represent Bornyakov's interests in court.
The reason for the lawsuit was public statements published on the People's Deputy's Telegram channel. In particular, they are about accusations of Oleksandr Bornyakov's alleged involvement in corruption schemes and a criminal organization, fraud with state licenses, and illicit enrichment.
Other charges include ignoring interrogations in criminal cases and intentionally disrupting the implementation of key state digital services.
"What the MP shared is not an assessment, not a criticism, not an opinion. It is a statement about facts. And a fact is either true or a lie - there is no third. […] The MP will prove his statements about facts in court," Masi Nayem wrote.
According to the lawyer, their lawsuit will be based on a clear distinction between the human right to freedom of speech and responsibility for the dissemination of false information, which is provided for both by Ukrainian legislation and the practice of the European Court of Human Rights.
We will remind that the head of the Finance Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Danylo Hetmantsev, demands that personnel decisions be made regarding the acting Minister of Digital Transformation, Oleksandr Bornyakov, and the head of the PlayCity state agency, Gennady Novikov.
In addition, in February, at the request of Hetmantsev, the Prosecutor General's Office initiated a criminal case against PlayCity .
