Ukrainian company TAF Industries has opened orders for the Octopus-100 interceptor drone, which is designed to combat jet «shaheeds» and other aerial targets. The development, created by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, has already been tested and transferred to individual military units for combat use.
What is known
The Octopus-100 is positioned as one of the most effective Ukrainian interceptor drones for combating aerial threats.
The drone is capable of:
intercept jet «shaheeds»;
work at high speeds;
perform tasks at night;
operate in conditions of operation of electronic warfare equipment;
protect critical infrastructure facilities and military positions.
Among the advantages, the developers mention the lower cost of intercepting targets compared to using air defense missile systems, automatic targeting, and relative ease of control.
As reported by TAF Industries, the company is an official licensee of the Octopus-100 and has already launched mass production of the drone. The interceptor can be ordered both through the manufacturer’s website and through the Brave1 Market platform.
According to company representatives, the military will not have to wait for a new batch to be manufactured, as the Octopus-100 is already in stock.
The cost of one drone is 117,000 UAH, and a set of ten interceptors and the necessary equipment for operation costs 1,574,000 UAH.
Faster than the basic version
TAF Industries claims that they are not only scaling up production of the Ministry of Defense’s development, but also improving its characteristics.
«Currently, a batch of Octopus-100 interceptors has been tested by our team and transferred to military units for combat use. So we have launched serial production. However, we are not just scaling up the development from the Ministry of Defense, but also significantly improving the product design and technical and tactical characteristics. Thanks to the existing experience in the development and production of UAVs, we managed to increase the speed of this interceptor by more than 20%,» said TAF Industries CEO Volodymyr Zinovsky.
According to the company, engineers also refined the drone’s aerodynamics, replaced batteries and motors, and improved the propeller design.
According to TAF Industries, an experienced FPV pilot needs just a few days to master the Octopus-100.
Beginners first need to acquire basic skills in controlling FPV drones. However, training to work as part of mobile air defense fire groups and interact with target detection specialists can take about a month.
