It will be created primarily using the company's AI tools, including GPT-5.
Critterz was made in a record 9 months and on a budget of less than $30 million, which is far less than what a typical animated film would require.
OpenAI and its partners Native Foreign and Vertigo Films hope the project will convince Hollywood producers to invest in AI, an ambitious task given the industry’s resistance to the technology, resistance from creative communities, and concerns about copyright.
