As TechCrunch reports, there are currently several links to the URL operator.chatgpt.com that redirect to the main chatgpt.com webpage. It displays a pop-up offering to upgrade your plan to try Operator.
«Currently, Operator is only available to Pro users in preview,» the announcement says. On the page listing Plus and Pro plans, OpenAI will add «Access to Operator research previews» as a Pro plan benefit.
Last fall, it was reported that OpenAI was preparing to launch a new artificial intelligence agent codenamed Operator as early as 2025. It will supposedly be able to perform some of the everyday tasks users do in a browser using a set of instructions: following someone on LinkedIn, adding expenses in Concur, assigning tasks in Asana, or changing the status of a lead in Salesforce.

It outperformed humans in the WebVoyager test, which measures an AI’s ability to navigate and interact with websites. But the model fell short of human performance in another web test, WebArena, according to the leaked data.
It is also claimed that Operator is not good at tasks that a human could easily perform. In a test that required an AI agent to register with a cloud provider and launch a virtual machine, Operator only succeeded 60% of the time. The AI was only able to create a crypto wallet 10% of the time.
