OpenAI has introduced the updated ChatGPT Images 2.6, which adds the ability to generate GIFs from uploaded photos and text prompts.

“With ChatGPT Images 2.6, turn a query or image into an animated GIF. Adjust the speed, edit individual frames, and share them,” the announcement on the X social network said.

At the same time, reference images can be saved and then new GIFs can be generated from them.

“Keep reference images of yourself, pets, and characters ready to be reused in new creations — no need to download them again,” OpenAI announced this feature.

Additionally, OpenAI announced that two new image generation models are now available in the API, which are 50% faster. These are two new models for developers: GPT-Image-2.6 Flare and Sunburst.

While Flare generates images in just six seconds, Sunburst provides higher generation quality and greater consistency in the editing process.

“Image markup and SVG export give you more ways to enhance and use the images you create,” the company said.

Images 2.6 is available in ChatGPT and Codex at all levels for web, desktop, and mobile. GPT-Image-2.6 Flare and Sunburst are also available in the API.

The company summarized that people around the world are now creating 4 billion images per week through ChatGPT, Codex, and API. That’s an average of over half a billion images per day.

It is known that GPT‑Image‑2.6 will be added to Figma Weave and Picsart.

As dev.ua reported, OpenAI will combine the Chat and Work tabs in the desktop version of ChatGPT.
