OpenAI is working on a new tool that will generate music based on text and audio cues.
According to sources at The Information , such a tool can be used to add music to a video or to add guitar accompaniment to a vocal track.
It is currently unknown when OpenAI plans to launch this tool and whether it will be available as a standalone product (as opposed to integration with ChatGPT and the Sora video app).
One source said that OpenAI is working with students from the Juilliard School — one of America’s largest performing arts institutions — to annotate scores to provide the model with training data.
While OpenAI has launched generative music models in the past, that was before ChatGPT. More recently, the company has focused on developing audio models focused on text-to-speech and speech-to-text conversion, TechCrunch reports .
Other companies with generative music models include Google and Suno.
