The mobile version provides full synchronization with the desktop application and remote environments. Users can see the status of active threads, terminal output, test results and even screenshots of Codex in real time. The system operates through a secure relay layer, allowing you to securely connect to local Mac minis or remote servers without directly exposing the device to the public internet.
OpenAI emphasizes that this update will help avoid downtime when an agent needs quick confirmation or clarification of context.
«A quick review can support the flow of discussion, prevent unnecessary rework, or help Codex move forward with the right context,» the company notes.
In particular, the tool allows you to start searching for bugs, review refactoring options while traveling in public transport, or prepare a concise briefing for a client based on the latest updates in Slack and GitHub.
Along with the mobile release, Remote SSH for connecting to managed environments and Hooks automation tools became generally available. For large businesses, software access tokens and HIPAA support were introduced, paving the way for AI agents to be used in healthcare startups and organizations with high data security requirements.
Codex in ChatGPT mobile is now available in preview on iOS and Android for all plans. Support for connecting to the Windows version of the app is expected to arrive soon.
OpenAI previously released a Chrome browser extension for Codex. It allows you to test web applications, collect context from all open tabs, and use Chrome DevTools in parallel while the user performs other tasks.
