In Kyiv, law enforcement officers exposed an official of the State Employment Service, due to whose negligence the state lost over UAH 16.5 million during the purchase of computer equipment.
According to Cyberpolice, the State Employment Service decided to purchase new servers for its system and allocated UAH 80 million for this.
The official responsible for the purchase was supposed to check market prices and find the most profitable option from official manufacturers. Instead, he did not compare real prices, took offers from dubious intermediary firms with greatly inflated cost indicators and drew up documents based on these fictitious price lists.
As a result, the institution paid the seller UAH 79 million.
The examination confirmed that the equipment was purchased at a much higher price than it actually cost. The losses to the state budget amounted to over UAH 16.5 million.
Law enforcement officers from the Cyber Police and the Prosecutor's Office charged the official with negligence. He now faces 2 to 5 years in prison with a ban on holding certain positions for up to 3 years.
"It's already happened!" Officials of the State Service for Special Communications are suspected of purchasing drones at inflated prices - losses to the state are estimated at over 90 million UAH
