This was stated by military radio technology specialist Sergei «Flash» Beskrestnov in an interview with the DOU publication. According to him, the enemy uses the Peresvet-M complex and other similar solutions, directing interference directly to the Uplink channel — from the terminal to the SpaceX satellite.
«This is a simple, classic solution for electronic warfare. They jam a satellite that serves a certain area — right above the point where the system is located — and create a Starlink no-communication zone measuring approximately 5 by 5 km, that is, about 20 square kilometers,» Beskrestnov explained.
According to the expert, the cost of one such complex ranges from $1 million to $1.2 million. Due to the high price, Russia will not be able to create a continuous jamming zone along the entire front line, but it is actively closing critical facilities: ammunition depots, air defense systems, naval bases, ships, and logistics highways in the occupied territories and in Crimea.
In parallel, the enemy is trying to deploy its own satellite constellation «Rassvet» — an analogue of Starlink. Despite the fact that out of 36 launched devices, half did not reach working orbits due to problems with the engines, the Russian Federation continues to prepare the next batches.
Beskrestnov emphasizes that after the full launch of the Russian network, Ukraine will need its own mirror EW solutions.
