On Sunday, April 20, on Easter, 35-year-old officer of the unmanned systems battalion of the 128th Transcarpathian Brigade Andriy Zadorozhny died in the line of duty. From 2020 to March 2022, he worked as a Delivery Manager\Program Manager at the IT company GlobalLogic.
The death of the defender was reported on his Facebook page by Yaroslav Galas, the presiding officer of the 128th OGShBr.
Andriy grew up in Mukachevo, graduated from school there, continued his studies at the National Aviation University in Kyiv and worked in the IT field. But as soon as the full-scale war began, he came to Mukachevo with his girlfriend and immediately went to the military enlistment office.
«I didn’t want to leave GlobalLogic, but my country is facing some challenges and I have to do my best in the new place to solve these problems,» Andriy wrote on LinkedIn three years ago.
«Andriy remained a normal person the whole time, more than three years of war did not change him at all. And this is a great rarity. He was very smart and had a moral core. Unfortunately, there are still far fewer such officers in the Armed Forces of Ukraine than there could be,» wrote Galas, who was a student friend of Andriy’s father and had known him since childhood.
The deceased IT specialist was one of the commanders of the drone unit, where he was transferred in 2023.
«The drone unit is one of the best in the brigade, one of its features is that there is no inappropriate statute and „Soviet army“ here. The fighters perform their tasks very effectively and live like a big family with mutual trust and support. And the fact that we managed to build such relationships is also Andriy’s merit as one of the commanders,» noted the presiding officer of the 128th OGShBr.
Two years ago, the defender received the award. In the comments with congratulations, friends expressed their wishes that it would not be the last.
Last spring, Andriy got married.
«Every vacation, Andriy tried to get permission to travel abroad and went on vacation to some European country with his girlfriend. They loved to travel,» said Galas.
