The National Commission for State Regulation of Electronic Communications, Radio Frequency Spectrum and Postal Services (NCES) has made an important decision regarding the future allocation of radio frequency resources in Ukraine. The regulator has officially begun preparations for the competition for the bands necessary for the deployment of 5G and the expansion of 4G coverage.

The regulator has officially begun preparations for the competition for the bands necessary for the deployment of 5G and the expansion of 4G coverage.
Demand from mobile operators has exceeded the available resource, therefore, the spectrum in the 703–723 / 758–778 MHz bands (Band 28), as well as additional 2600 MHz bands (Band 7: 2545–2550/2665–2670 MHz and 2560–2565/2680–2685 MHz) will be provided for use exclusively on the terms of a competition or auction, the NCEC decision states .
Starting prices will be formed based on calculations by the consulting company "Aetha Consulting Limited" regarding the cost of frequencies in the 700 MHz and 3.5 GHz bands.
A draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers was also approved, which will officially approve the initial amount of the license fee and the minimum auction step.
In addition, the NCEC approved a draft agreement with the Ukrainian State Radio Frequency Center (UDRC) for the purchase of industrial monitoring services for the quality of communication services.
The allocation of new frequencies will improve the quality of mobile communications, expand its coverage in Ukraine, and create a basis for the implementation of new radio technologies.
