Ukrainian IT company MacPaw has decided to change the subscription model of its Setapp app marketplace to give developers more flexible monetization.
The new model allows users to access specific apps without having to subscribe to the entire marketplace, Scroll.media reports .
Setapp is a marketplace with over 200 to-do tools for Mac and iPhone. Previously, access to them cost $9.99 per month.
Now users can subscribe to over 60 popular apps, including Bartender, Downie, AlDente Pro, as well as MacPaw’s own products — CleanMyMac, Moonlock, and Gemini 2.
Developers will also be able to offer users regular monthly and annual plans, as well as perpetual licenses. MacPaw hopes that this solution will strengthen Setapp as an alternative marketplace for iOS developers.
Recall that in February, the company closed Setapp Mobile due to «changing and challenging business conditions» that do not correspond to the current business model of the Setapp service.
