Zelenskyy met with representatives of retail and marketplaces. What support is being prepared for business?
Ukraine wants to expand access to soft loans for businesses affected by Russian attacks. This includes companies that currently do not meet the program's requirements but continue to operate and need money to recover.
Ukraine wants to expand access to soft loans for businesses affected by Russian attacks. This includes companies that currently do not meet the program's requirements but continue to operate and need money to recover.
According to the president, the ministries of finance and economy, together with the National Bank and the Office of the President, should prepare appropriate solutions in the near future. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs should also work with international partners on solutions that will help Ukrainian businesses continue to operate.
The current post-shelling recovery lending program is designed for micro, small, and medium-sized businesses. Under the “Affordable Loans 5–7–9%,” businesses can receive up to UAH 150 million for the repair or restoration of damaged property. Therefore, the statement about companies that are currently “not eligible” may mean that the government is preparing wider access to the program.
Zelenskyy said that information on the needs of companies is planned to be collected weekly, and if necessary, the state will review regulations and work algorithms to ensure that the supply of goods does not stop. The meeting also discussed how businesses should operate during prolonged airstrikes.
Business representatives have also suggested creating bonded warehouses in neighboring European countries where goods could be stored before being imported into Ukraine. The government also plans to simplify the rental of state and municipal warehouses and create a list of key logistics hubs.
Separately, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Economy should work on booking drivers for logistics centers and protecting hubs that are critical to the economy. Companies also report a shortage of workers. Due to Russian attacks, businesses are forced to disperse warehouses, which makes logistics more difficult, which is why companies need more people.
Earlier, dev.ua wrote that Russian attacks have already seriously hit major Ukrainian retailers. In particular, in July, a Russian strike completely destroyed the MOYO warehouse. And in August, the ROZETKA automated warehouse complex in Brovary, which processed about 100,000 orders per day, was destroyed. After that, the company confirmed the reduction of part of the staff and announced the acceleration of the transition from its own sales to the marketplace model.
