Google has announced that it is officially shutting down Assistant, replacing it with Gemini.
"Later this year," the announcement says, "the classic Google Assistant will no longer be available on most mobile devices and will not be available for new downloads in mobile app stores."
This change means that users who have routine tasks and reminders in Assistant will need to create new ones in Gemini, writes ZDNET.
The update won't just be rolling out to phones in the coming months, Google added. Gemini will also be coming to tablets, cars, devices that connect to your phone like watches and headphones, home devices like speakers and displays, and TVs.
The only way to keep Assistan is if your device doesn't meet the minimum requirements: at least 2 GB of RAM and Android 10 or higher.
