"After a sleepless night, I don't have the energy to go to the office." appflame has lifted remote work limits for the Kyiv team
Ukrainian product company appflame revised its team work rules ahead of winter. For employees who usually work from the office, the limit on remote work has been lifted — previously, they could work from home no more than 50 days a year. At the same time, the restrictions on visiting the office for the remote team have been removed, which now works for them 24/7.
Oleksandra Levitska, Talent Acquisition Partner at appflame, spoke about the changes. According to her, in recent weeks, candidates from Kyiv have begun to ask more often about the work format during interviews, and mandatory presence in the office is being actively discussed on LinkedIn and Threads.
"After another sleepless night, there is no strength to go anywhere, and also, banally, during anxiety, the road to the office can take an indefinite amount of time," wrote Levitska.
The company has positions that require physical presence, but, according to her, forcing the entire team to come to the office five days a week in the current environment is impractical.
Therefore, for employees who normally work from the office, the limit on remote days has been completely abolished. Previously, they were allowed to work from home up to 50 days a year. Now they can work from any safe and comfortable place for them.
The company has also changed the rules for employees who work remotely. Previously, they could come to the office no more than four times a month. Now there is no limit on visits, and the office itself is available 24/7.
The company explains this, in particular, by possible problems with electricity and communication in the winter. The office has a generator, uninterrupted internet, a supply of water and food, as well as sleeping places. According to Levitska, they can be used not only by employees, but also by their families.
At the same time, the company is not abandoning the office format completely. Physical presence remains necessary for certain positions.
“A strong business is not built on coercion and presence control, but on trust, care, and flexibility,” Levytska noted. Now, she says, this is how she answers candidates when asked about the choice between an office and remote work: the team’s safety is a priority.
appflame replaced standard benefits with a “cafeteria.” Now employees themselves choose what to spend their budget on. More money is allocated for remote specialists
