The detainee himself claims that investigators gained access to his account and published the final message on his behalf.
The disappearance of the coordination resource on August 7 during the action on Ivan Franko Square was reported by one of its organizers, Arkady Petrosyan. Later, information appeared on social networks about the detention of the chat administrator, Vitaliy Kamka, reports the ZMINA Human Rights Center.
According to protest participants, at around 6:00 PM on August 7, a post from "Pavuk" appeared in the "Protest" chat room with a call to "serve the state in the Armed Forces of Ukraine," after which the group of 770 people was completely deleted.
Activist Serhiy Motrenko, who maintained contact with Kamka, noted that the rhetoric of the message was atypical for the detainee. Kamka himself later stated on social media that he did not write this text and did not delete the chat, and that law enforcement officers gained access to his device and account after his detention.
According to Kamka, he was stopped by police officers while riding a motorcycle on August 7. During a document check, it turned out that he had the status of a person who had voluntarily left the unit (SZCH).
The handcuffed detainee was taken to the Bila Tserkva Zonal Department of the Military Law Enforcement Service (MLS). Kamka posted a photo and video on his Instagram and Threads social networks, noting that he was handcuffed to a bed.
As of August 8, Kamka was transported to Cherkasy and sent to military unit A7017 for further service. In an audio recording of a conversation with Motrenko, the detainee noted that he was treated adequately in the military unit and no physical violence was used, although he was handcuffed for a long time during the transportation stages.
It is currently unknown whether Kamka resisted and what exactly was the reason for the prolonged use of handcuffs. According to Ukrainian law, VSP servicemen have the right to use handcuffs during detention or escort only in case of risk of escape, attack, resistance, or threat of harm to themselves or others.
It was not possible to obtain an operational comment from the Military Law Enforcement Service regarding the circumstances of the detention and seizure of digital media at the time of publication - the hotlines and public relations departments have not yet responded to requests.
