Ukrainian developers have created a platform for automatic prioritization in the field of humanitarian demining, GRIT, which is powered by tech giant Palantir.
The GRIT platform was created as part of a pilot project on prioritization in humanitarian demining in the Kharkiv region, the Ministry of Economy reports .
The platform has integrated over 100 datasets from 26 different sources. This includes information on soils, economic activity in the region, the condition of social infrastructure facilities, the number of people living in communities, etc.
Based on the collected data, AI can build models that allow answering complex questions. For example, if there are two identical plots in different communities of the Kharkiv region, the system will take into account the distance to the nearest grain elevator, infrastructure network, etc. to determine priority. The final decision will be made by a person.
Ukrainian teams and specialists from the technology giant Palantir were involved in the pilot project. Based on the uploaded data, prioritization algorithms were tested, taking into account economic, social, environmental, and security criteria.
After the successful completion of the pilot project in the Kharkiv region, the Ministry of Economy initiated negotiations with Palantir and Ukraine's international partners on scaling the GRIT platform to all regions where hostilities were taking place.
