SpaceX previously updated its Starlink Roam terms of service, creating a single European region of over 30 countries, which Poland was not initially included in. This would limit Poles' ability to use the internet while traveling abroad to 30 days, under the threat of switching to more expensive tariffs. This change could also affect users in Ukraine, including the military .
The situation caused outrage in the Polish government. Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski publicly appealed to Elon Musk, reminding him that Poland pays SpaceX about $50 million a year, and calling for an end to discrimination.
As a result, SpaceX agreed to include Poland in the intra-European roaming zone. Polish users receive the same conditions as other customers in Europe, without additional restrictions, Polsat News reports .
"SpaceX has responded to my request and will not treat Polish customers worse than users in other European countries," Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitalization Krzysztof Gawkowski said on Thursday.
According to him, he received assurances from Elon Musk's company regarding changes to the rules for Poland.
"The declaration I received is clear: Poland will be included in the Starlink Roam intra-European roaming area. No new restrictions will apply to Polish customers," Hawkowski wrote on the X platform.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that he expects the announced changes to be implemented quickly and that customers will be informed.
“Now I expect that SpaceX’s declaration will be promptly implemented in practice, and the company will inform users about it,” he stressed. The government official added that Poles using Starlink “should receive services on equal terms with users in other European countries.”
