Poltava MP tried to hide UAH 340 million in crypto wallets

A deputy of the Poltava City Council was informed of suspicion of illegal enrichment in the amount of over 340 million UAH. According to the investigation, the official used complex transactions with virtual assets and front persons to legalize funds that he did not reflect in official declarations in recent years.
This is reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The investigation found that the deputy tried to hide his assets by transferring money to his own crypto wallets through third parties. These assets did not appear in his tax reports and declarations for the period from 2022 to 2025. The use of decentralized finance tools was intended to make it more difficult to trace the origin of the capital.
This is not the first claim of law enforcement agencies against this official. In October 2025, he was already suspected of declaring false information. Then, according to the results of the NACP inspection, it was revealed that in the declarations for 2022–2024, the deputy «forgot» to indicate virtual assets worth over UAH 200 million, some of which were registered in the names of close relatives.
Later, in 2025, the deputy tried to rectify the situation and submitted revised declarations, partially reflecting these assets. However, further verification revealed a much larger scale of illicit enrichment, which led to a change in qualification.
The deputy now faces punishment under Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. It provides for imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years.
Let us remind you that in Pryluky, Chernihiv region, the police are investigating the case of a local civil servant who demonstrated real miracles of investing. The official declared a solid supply of Bitcoin, but in the value column indicated that he purchased them… for exactly 1 hryvnia.
