He spoke about this during an episode of the Uncapped podcast, Business Insider reports. According to him, AI models for code generation do a great job, but programmers spend most of their day on design reviews, discussing product architecture and coordinating actions with other business teams.
«If these processes don’t change and are aligned, you’re probably not going to get the productivity gains you’re hoping for,» Xu said, adding that many tech companies are now trying to reengineer their workflows so that AI becomes a seamless tool across all levels of development.
In addition to software solutions, Xu noted the promising direction of «physical AI.» This mainly concerns the automation of offline processes, including the use of culinary robots and autonomous vehicles for delivering orders.
A study was previously published stating that the development of artificial intelligence is increasingly causing professional burnout among IT professionals. Programmers say they don’t have time to master new models and tools, and their work is increasingly turning into botsitting — checking, correcting, and managing the code generated by AI.
