Ukrainian Flamingo missiles attacked the Proton plant in Oryol, Russia. It produces components for missiles and air defense
In Oryol, Russia, on October 23, a missile strike was reported on the Proton plant, which specializes in the production of optoelectronic equipment. According to the Ukrainian monitoring Telegram channel Exilenova, the plant was hit by four Flamingo cruise missiles. The plant produces electronic components used in Russian weapons, including the Iskander-M missile system and the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft system.

What components does the Proton plant produce?
The enterprise in Oryol specializes in the full cycle of production of optoelectronic equipment — from the manufacture of crystals to the release of finished products.
According to the register of enterprises related to the production of Russian weapons, which is maintained by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the plant manufactures electronic components for several types of Russian military equipment.
In particular, the company’s product list includes:
Diode module 2M420A4 for the S-71K "Kover" cruise missile.
Switch-inverter 249LP5 for the Iskander-M missile system.
Electronic switch modules and integrated circuits for the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun complex.
Such components are part of the electronic base of the Russian defense-industrial complex. Their production is important for the creation and maintenance of missile weapons and air defense systems.
In September 2025, the United Kingdom added the Proton plant to the sanctions list due to its activities in the Russian defense sector and electronics industry.
