The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) reported that it no longer received applications from the Arab defense holding EDGE Group to purchase a share of the Ukrainian manufacturer of long-range drones and missiles Fire Point.

Recall that on December 30, 2025, the AMCU received an application from the EDGE defense group from the United Arab Emirates to acquire 30% of the Ukrainian defense company Fire Point, known for its Flamingo missiles. At an assessment of $2.5 billion, this amount could be approximately $760 million.
On January 14, 2026, the AMCU returned the application without consideration. Fire Point stated that "working interaction with the AMCU is ongoing. It is premature to talk about the details of the structure of the deal." The committee did not name the reason, but it is assumed that this may be a technical solution (the AMCU sometimes returns applications to buy time in complex deals), or it may be related to security issues or the situation in the Middle East.
As of May, the AMCU had not received a second application from the Arab holding. The state agency informed "Public" about this.
"A repeated application for permission to concentrate with the participation of the business entities specified in the request (EDGE Group and Fire Point LLC - ed.) was not received by the Committee during the current year," the AMCU noted.
EDGE Group is an Arab defense conglomerate owned by the UAE sovereign wealth fund. Founded in 2019, it unites more than 35 companies in the fields of rocketry, weapons, space and cyber technologies. In 2024, it ranked 37th in the SIPRI world defense company ranking with revenue of $4.9 billion.
Fire Point was founded in 2022, when it employed 18 people. The company now employs 3,500 people. Revenue in 2024 is UAH 4.3 billion, and in the first quarter of 2025, it is another UAH 2.6 billion.
The flagship product is the FP-1 deep strike drone. The line also includes the FP-2 middle strike drone, the Flamingo (FP-5) cruise missile, and the FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles in development—the latter with a claimed range of about 800 km.
The company became known to a wide audience in August 2025, when President Zelensky called Flamingo the most successful development among all Ukrainian weapons.
