"I'm coming to Ukraine - and my phone keeps breaking." Fedorov told how he stopped unnecessary international contacts on weapons that are irrelevant to Ukraine
Former Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov shared information that he was forced to stop multi-million dollar international contracts that provided for the purchase of foreign weapons that are currently in surplus or irrelevant on the battlefield.
Former Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov shared information that he was forced to stop multi-million dollar international contracts that provided for the purchase of foreign weapons that are currently in surplus or irrelevant on the battlefield.
He said this during today’s briefing for journalists, which was broadcast by Suspilne.
«We stopped a large number of contracts that were signed directly with foreigners by Ukrainian companies, which I didn’t even know about when I arrived. I come to another country and say — dear minister, we are no longer buying the 155th (shell), and don’t give money for repairs of the Leopards — two hundred million, don’t do this and don’t do that. I come to Ukraine after that, and my phone goes off — you broke our contract, we had a framework contract signed a long time ago… In this situation, we are acting very badly as a state, breaking the business strategy of companies. But, on the other hand, if we now have a surplus of the 155th short for the front, what moral right do I have to allow this company to sell the 155th short to the state?», — shared Fedorov.
In such a situation, as the former Minister of Defense says, he had to make unpopular, quick decisions.
«Contracts are stopped, and partners are transferring money, for example, to the 155th long-distance line,» he gave an example.
He added that such decisions should have been made a year ago to avoid this problem.
«Doing things with a bunch of restrictions that give you the opportunity to start defeating the enemy? Well, then you’re the f**k out of the position of minister.» What do entrepreneurs, volunteers, and public figures think about Fedorov’s dismissal from the Ministry of Defense
