French indie hacker Vincent, known on the social network X under the nickname @VynseDev, launched the Brand My Mac project, within the framework of which he sold spaces for advertising stickers on the lid of his future MacBook and has already collected 111% of the required amount.

So far, the Bordeaux-based developer has raised $3,274 through 10 ad placements. With more than 12 days left in the auction, the final amount could exceed the cost of several such laptops, writes Tom’s Hardware.
The surface of the laptop lid is divided into several zones around the Apple logo, each of which has its own price. Under the terms of the auction, Vincent undertakes to print and stick vinyl stickers with the logos of the winning brands, as well as place links to their websites on the project page.
The most expensive spot was the spot in the center above the Apple logo — RISTI has so far paid $761 for it. The minimum bid increment is €10 ($11.65).
Advertisers themselves buy not only the physical presence of the brand on the developer’s laptop in real life, but also media coverage: sponsor logos are already appearing in media publications and viral posts on social networks.

Vincent openly admits that the idea is not new — he was inspired by similar projects such as BrandMyTesla and Outbid.
Due to its viral success, the developer decided to go further: he is already creating a platform for other users. The idea is that anyone can register, specify the desired gadget, and the system will automatically generate a grid of stickers, launch an auction, and take care of all the technical part.
