According to the Los Angeles Times, two young men were arrested in San Francisco.
The San Francisco Police Department did not name the autonomous vehicle operator, but a Waymo spokesperson confirmed that the incident involved one of their vehicles.
The company stopped the car after detecting a "violation of terms of service related to the use of a firearm."
The police department reported that officers stopped a "high-risk" vehicle and detained two underage passengers, a boy and a girl.
When officers searched the car, they found a loaded AR-type assault rifle, as well as suspicious substances — marijuana and a spray can of methamphetamine.
The passengers were taken into custody and placed in a juvenile detention center.
This isn’t the first time Waymo has caught potential troublemakers. In July, Waymo contacted the police after two teenagers were seen drinking alcohol and shooting toy guns in the backseat of a car.
As dev.ua wrote, a Waymo robotaxi hit a child near an elementary school in Santa Monica, USA, but it ended with minor injuries, and the "fault" of the unmanned vehicle has not yet been proven.
