The Ministry of Defense is launching a project that will allow for the scaling up of the use of unmanned ground systems in the military. The main suppliers of these robots are Ukrainian companies.
This was announced by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov on his Facebook.
«The Ministry of Defense is launching a project that allows scaling up the use of unmanned ground systems in the military. Ukraine is increasing the production of these systems and deploying full-fledged robotic units as part of the combat brigades of the Armed Forces on the front line», — he wrote.
According to him, the project is based on the experience of tests that have been conducted since the summer of 2024. It is noted that the ground-based systems have proven their ability to perform a number of combat missions:
implement offensive and defensive operations;
provide logistical support to units;
to evacuate the wounded from the battlefield;
to mine and demine territories.
«To create robotic units, the experience of brigades that use such systems on the battlefield was taken into account. It is extremely important that the main suppliers of ground robotic complexes are leading domestic companies. Ukrainian manufacturers have adapted their products to the conditions of modern warfare and the recommendations of combat units of the Defense Forces», — Umerov emphasized.
Recently, Ukrainian miltech company Frontline, which develops and manufactures robotic systems, announced the launch of mass production of the «Burya» turret for the 40 mm Mk 19 grenade launcher.
