NATO wants to create an unmanned robotic defense zone on the border with Russia and Belarus

Bundeswehr Brigadier General Thomas Loewin said that NATO plans to significantly expand its stockpiles of weapons and ammunition along its eastern flank and create a new defense zone full of robotics and drones.
Under the new multi-layered defense concept, NATO will seek to slow or stop invaders at an early stage using high-tech systems.
A zone will be created along the alliance's borders with Russia and Belarus, relying on surveillance systems, as well as remotely operated or semi-automated systems that will be the first to encounter an invading force. Lovin said that NATO's surveillance system in the east will be based on data collection on the ground, in the air, in space and in the digital realm.
The information will be provided to NATO allies in real time. Fixed and mobile systems such as radars, acoustic and optical sensors, as well as data from satellites, drones and reconnaissance aircraft can be used to collect intelligence.
Right along the borders, NATO plans to create a “hot zone” designed to stop or slow down attackers early. This zone could include armed drones, semi-autonomous combat vehicles, robotic systems, and automated air defenses.
According to the German military, decisions on the use of force will always remain in the hands of people, in accordance with the rules of engagement and ethical standards. He noted that despite automation, the number of troops will not be reduced, because drones alone are not enough to deter or stop the enemy.
