The SBU reported that he served in the Ukrainian Navy’s special-purpose unmanned aerial vehicle brigade, who turned out to be a Russian informant. He was supposed to provide the Russians with the geolocations of military bases operating naval drones, as well as the coordinates of the storage of unmanned boats and their movement routes.
«Among the enemy’s main 'targets' were the legendary naval drones of the SBU and the Ministry of Defense under the code names 'Sea Baby' and 'Magura',» counterintelligence officers reported.
The SBU exposed the traitor in advance, documented his crimes, and detained him while he was preparing coordinates for a Russian missile attack. He was recruited through acquaintances, to whom he told the details of the work. One of them was used by the Russians as a «contact» to obtain classified information about the Ukrainian military.
The agent was informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information about the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other military formations established in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, committed under martial law). He faces imprisonment for a term of 5 to 8 years.
The issue of a possible additional qualification of his criminal actions is also being considered. The perpetrator is in custody. An investigation is underway to bring all those responsible to justice.
Recall that in December, the Security Service of Ukraine conducted a special operation in the port of Novorossiysk and struck a Russian Varshavyanka-class submarine using underwater drones.
