The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported the repelling of a major cyberattack on the War&Sanctions portal, which contains information about foreign suppliers of components for Russian weapons, sanctions lists, and a list of Russian propagandists.
«On April 7, Russian special services carried out a powerful DDoS attack on the War&Sanctions portal. The volume of resources involved indicates a large-scale operation aimed at disabling it», — the GUR noted.
The hackers made more than 56 million requests in almost 30 minutes — about 40,000 every second. The attack involved more than 3,700 virtual machines located in more than 10 countries, including Russia and China. Among the Russian IP addresses that received the most requests was the Skolkovo Innovation Center.
The GUR reported that its cyber specialists repelled the cyberattack, and the portal did not lose any data, and its infrastructure was not damaged.
«Such large-scale organized actions indicate the effectiveness of the portal as a tool to counter the aggressor. But all the efforts of the Russian special services are in vain,» the intelligence officers commented on the attack.
The War&Sanctions portal was launched in April 2022. Last year, for International Children’s Day (June 1), a separate section appeared there with a database of Russian and Belarusian kidnappers of Ukrainian children.
Recently, the GUR published information on the War&Sanctions portal regarding almost 200 new parts and components used in six types of Russian weapons.

Since February, attackers have intensified cyberattacks and are hunting the military, law enforcement officers, and military-tech developers — State Service for Special Communications
