In central Kyiv, a Russian drone struck the central building of the Security Service of Ukraine on Volodymyrska Street, located opposite St. Sophia Cathedral. The enemy UAV was specifically directed at the office of SBU head Oleksandr Poklad.
The head of the department was not injured as a result of the blow. This was reported by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on his social networks, and was also confirmed by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to Zelensky, all emergency services are working at the scene, and all victims are being provided with necessary assistance. Volodymyr Zelensky has already instructed the SBU leadership to prepare a tangible and mirror response to this attack, the geography of which has already been determined.
«I gave the task to Poklad to adequately, noticeably and, if possible, mirror the Russians' response to this strike, when everything is prepared. Our military will support this response… The geography of the response has been determined. The time will be chosen so that there is a result,» the President stated.
The SBU press service emphasized that the Russians did not achieve their goal, and the damaged building will be restored. The agency announced new special operations and the exposure of spy networks in response to enemy attacks.
The technical details of the strike were commented on by military radio technology specialist Sergei «Flash» Beskrestnov. He noted that the attack was a pre-planned special operation, and the «Shahed» itself probably had non-standard controls.
According to the expert, the drone could be guided online via a MESH radio repeater with Internet access. Such a device, half the size of a school backpack, could be turned on by a Russian agent for a short time near the object — within a radius of up to 5 km. Flash added that no other «Shaheeds» were recorded in the airspace at that moment, so standard control over the chain from the territory of Russia was impossible.
