The European Commission approved Ukraine's accession to the EU's "Roam like at home" policy
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced that the European Commission has agreed to grant Ukraine a «roaming visa-free regime.» This will allow Ukrainians not to pay for roaming when making phone calls and using mobile Internet in the EU.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced that the European Commission has agreed to grant Ukraine a «roaming visa-free regime.» This will allow Ukrainians not to pay for roaming when making phone calls and using mobile Internet in the EU.
«Today, the Government approved the decision of the Ukraine-EU Association Committee on the mutual opening of the roaming sector. This is part of the procedure for finalizing the acquisition of a roaming visa-free regime,» Shmyhal reported in his Telegram.
He added that «Roaming like at home» for Ukrainians will be available from January 1, 2026.
At the end of June 2025, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed another law on a single roaming area with the European Union — «On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on the Implementation of the Norms of European Union Legislation on Electronic Communications.» After that, the European Commission conducted an official assessment of its compliance with European Union law.
The Commission reached a positive conclusion and proposed to integrate Ukraine into EU roaming in 2026. «We want Ukrainian citizens to be able to stay in touch with their loved ones across the EU, as well as in their own country. That is why we are proposing that Ukraine join our roaming family,» said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
We remind you that after joining the unified roaming with the EU, Ukrainians will be able to:
use roaming services at the price of a domestic tariff when traveling to the EU (27 member states);
not to overpay for tariffs or conditions depending on the countries of residence in the EU;
Get rid of «roaming stress» and searching for Wi-Fi.
