Rozetka refused to compensate sellers for losses after a missile strike on a warehouse in Brovary and is preparing a lawsuit against Russia
The Rozetka marketplace will not compensate sellers for the cost of goods destroyed as a result of a Russian missile strike on the company’s warehouse in Brovary on August 5. The retailer is citing force majeure circumstances stipulated by law and offer agreements, and the 30% discount on the platform’s services offered to entrepreneurs is called voluntary assistance.

This is stated in the company’s response to a request from the Hromadske publication.
Rozetka explains that the destruction of the fulfillment center is a force majeure circumstance according to the Civil Code of Ukraine. Therefore, the offer of preferential terms for the marketplace is a way to support partners, not a legal admission of guilt. According to the company, most sellers have already taken advantage of this offer.
"We understand the difficult situation of sellers whose goods were destroyed, and we are trying to voluntarily support them by providing discounts on services. It is important to distinguish between contractual compensation and voluntary support from the company," Rozetka notes.
The company also denies the amount of losses of partners in the amount of UAH 112 million, which the initiative group of affected sellers insists on, calling it their own estimate. According to the retailer, the total value of the destroyed property exceeds UAH 1.1 billion, with most of the goods belonging to Rozetka itself. In addition, the company lost a warehouse complex and equipment, in which it invested more than EUR 75 million over the years of development.
Losses were partially reduced because two weeks before the attack, the warehouse stopped accepting new deliveries and issued goods on request. This allowed for a 30% reduction in the volume of third-party goods.
The company emphasizes that at the time of the attack, there were no proper war risk insurance programs on the market for facilities of this scale, and state co-financing mechanisms are still absent. Because of this, Rozetka has engaged lawyers to recover losses directly from Russia at the expense of the aggressor’s assets seized abroad. In addition, an appeal to the state regarding temporary tax breaks for the affected business remained unanswered.
"Resources that could be directed towards development, job creation, and investment are now being directed towards overcoming the consequences of the destruction and restoring business," Rozetka concluded.
Allow affected businesses to defer tax payments without interest or collateral.

Simplify confirmation of reporting if documents were destroyed by shelling.
However, the Ministry of Finance did not support any of the proposals. The department explained that the loss of one warehouse does not mean that the company cannot pay taxes.
Previously, 44 small and medium-sized entrepreneurs who lost about UAH 112 million in inventory during a fire at the ROZETKA Fulfillment warehouse in Brovary, united in a community to resolve issues of compensation for damages. The affected sellers announced their intention to sue the marketplace and asked to increase the discount on the platform’s services from 30% to 50%. But Rozetka refused additional relief, explaining that due to its own large-scale losses, the company cannot afford a larger amount of support.
