"Significantly exceeds the performance of the Geran-3." The GUR revealed the characteristics of the new Geran-5 drone
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has published details about the characteristics and foreign components of the new Russian attack drone «Geran-5».

According to the GUR, this UAV resembles the Iranian Karrar drone, and most of the blocks are identical to the components of other Geraniums produced in Alabuz. The occupiers are also testing the possibility of launching the Geranium-5 from a Su-25 aircraft.
The main characteristics of «Geranium-5» according to the analysis of the GUR:
full take-off weight — 850 kg;
cruising speed — 450–600 km/h, which significantly exceeds the performance of the Geran-3;
flight duration — about 2 hours;
estimated range — up to 950 km;
maximum altitude — 6 km (actually recorded use — from 200 m to 3 km).
«Geran-5» uses the Chinese TELEFLY TF-TJ2000A turbojet engine with a thrust of 200 kgf. It also has an FCU flight controller, a SADRA/MINSOO inertial navigation system, a Comet-M12 satellite navigation system with a 12-element CRP antenna, a Tracker V3 telemetry data transmission system based on a Raspberry microcomputer and 3G/LTE modems, a Xingkai Tech XK-F358 MESH modem, etc.
«The identified electronic component base originates from three countries — China, the USA, and Germany,» the GUR noted.
«Geran-5 is another attempt to implement a budget cruise missile. We have already seen similar solutions such as Banderol, Grom, and UMPB-5R,» noted military expert Sergey «Flash.»
According to him, the ability to drop the Gerani-5 from a jet carrier is a very important nuance. This increases the range and speed of the flight and provides maneuverability.
