Kyiv-based indie studio Twigames has launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to develop Hollow Home, an isometric story-driven RPG about a teenager in a Ukrainian city under siege. The team’s stated goal is to raise $15,000, of which more than $6,000 was raised on the first day of the campaign.
This is stated on the official Kickstarter project page. Twigames notes that the idea for Hollow Home originated in the spring of 2022, when most of the team was forcibly evacuated to the Carpathians after the start of a full-scale invasion launched by Russia.
Hollow Home is an isometric role-playing game that follows a teenager named Maksym as he struggles to survive in a city in southern Ukraine under siege by enemy forces. The story is based on the real-life events of Mariupol in 2022. The game does not directly depict combat or violence, but focuses on the civilian experience, moral choices, and the consequences of war for ordinary people.
To recreate the atmosphere, the developers processed over 600 pages of open source materials, publications by Mariupol journalists, and eyewitness accounts. The visual style of the project is inspired by the animated works «Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse» and the TV series «Love, Death, and Robots», while the gameplay and narrative structure were influenced by Disco Elysium.
«Hollow Home particularly interested me with its concept and visual design. The story of the besieged city, of course, resonated with me on a personal level after what happened to my hometown. That’s why I want to be a part of this project,» said the game’s composer Danylo Dunets, who left Mariupol on February 25, 2022, on the last evacuation train.
Among the rewards for backers, the developers are offering a number of digital and physical bonuses. For $300, backers can name a stray cat that the main character interacts with, or work with the studio’s artists to design and place their own graffiti on the streets of the game city.

For the most generous backers with a contribution of $500 or more, a limited edition of physical Azovstal bracelets was prepared, forged from a limited batch of the last pre-war steel of the United24 project. Of the 20 bracelets purchased by the studio, 19 remain for sponsors, as the team previously donated one copy to a charity auction during Ukrainian Gamescom 2025.
Hollow Home is scheduled for release on PC on Steam and Microsoft Store, as well as on Xbox Series X/S consoles.
