According to Defender Media, the Mongoose is a reusable drone with a jet engine and an automatic homing system. It will fly up to Iranian-Russian Shahed drones and fire a fragmentation charge into their engine or propeller. The Mongoose can then search for the next target or return to refuel and reload.
According to Gennady Suldin, CEO of Technary, the developers have already attracted investments for the further development and scaling of Mongoose, but did not disclose the amount of funding.
«We are missile engineers, and we wouldn’t have entered the UAV segment at all if we had seen at least one working solution to counter the Shahed,» said Suldin. In his opinion, the existing interceptors could lose their relevance if the Russians put more powerful engines on the Shahed — then the «hunters», whose maximum speed reaches 250 km/h, would not be able to catch up with them.
Instead, the Mangusta jet engine allows it to reach speeds of 300-310 km per hour. The maximum flight altitude is 5 km, and the combat radius is about 12 km.
It also has its own homing system, which focuses on the thermal radiation of the «Shaheeds», and is capable of visually locking on to a target from 800 m. The auto-homing system is activated at a distance of 150-200 m.
To shoot down enemy UAVs, the Mongoose will use a multi-barreled shotgun. According to the developers, one such drone will be able to shoot down 10-12 «shaheeds» during its operation, which makes the Mongoose economically viable. Suldin believes that 5,000-7,000 reusable interceptor drones could replace 200,000 disposable kamikaze drones.
Currently, the «Technaries» have created a squadron of «Mongoose» prototypes and are going to transfer them to anti-aircraft missile brigades for testing. After testing, the company is ready to launch the product into series.
In 2022, the Techies created the mobile application «ePPO» with which users can help the military track and destroy enemy Kalibr missiles in advance. In 2024, the application had 570,000 users who registered through «Diya».
